GenUrb’s Principal Investigator, Linda Peake, was among three Canadian geographers awarded an American Association of Geographers (AAG) Diversity and Inclusion award. Given to geographers “who have pioneered efforts toward, or actively participate in efforts towards encouraging a more diverse discipline”, Linda Peake, Beverly Mullings and Kate Parizeau were recognized for “their translation of informal, kitchen-table conversations with graduate students into highly organized efforts that foreground this pressing topic in scholarly journals and professional meetings.” Further, the AAG recognized their collaborative work on the organization’s Mental Health Task force between 2015 and 2018, and an AAG Affinity Group on Mental Health in the Academy in 2019.
