Dr. Araby Smyth, a Post-Doctoral Visitor with GenUrb, recently received an honourable mention for Best Dissertation under the 2022 AAG Economic Geography Specialty Group Student Awards. Titled “Gender and Remittances: Lived Experiences of Women in Oaxaca, Mexico”. Dr. Smyth analyzed migration within the framework of global and local migration flows, specifically discussing the role of women in remittance networks as active, agentic participants.
